Description

Southern Chessmen Cookie Banana Pudding is a no-bake Southern classic made with layers of buttery Chessmen cookies, creamy vanilla pudding, ripe bananas, and whipped topping. It’s rich, indulgent, and perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  1. 2 packages Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
  2. 68 ripe bananas, sliced
  3. 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  4. 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  5. 1 package (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  6. 2 cups cold milk
  7. 1 container (12 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.

  1. Add sweetened condensed milk and mix until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until thickened.
  3. Fold the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture until smooth.
  4. Gently fold in the whipped topping until fully incorporated and creamy.
  5. Arrange one layer of Chessmen cookies in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Evenly layer the sliced bananas over the cookies.
  7. Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the bananas.
  8. Top with a second layer of Chessmen cookies.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  10. Serve chilled and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use banana-flavored pudding for a stronger banana taste.
  • Top with whipped cream or caramel drizzle for extra flair.
  • Layer in individual jars or a trifle dish for a decorative presentation.
  • Best enjoyed within 2–3 days to avoid banana browning.
  • Do not freeze, as texture may change when thawed.
