Description
Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats are a no-bake dessert that blends gooey marshmallows, buttery caramel, and crispy rice cereal, topped with flaky sea salt for the perfect sweet-salty flavor combo.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Stir in the caramel sauce until fully combined and smooth.
- Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, if using.
- Gently fold in Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
- Transfer mixture to the prepared pan and press lightly using a buttered spatula or wax paper—don’t press too hard to keep them soft.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while still warm.
- Let cool for 30–60 minutes at room temperature until set.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Use a high-quality thick caramel sauce for best flavor.
- Press gently into the pan to avoid making the bars too dense.
- For extra richness, drizzle with more caramel or melted chocolate after cooling.
- Do not refrigerate unless storing for more than 4 days.
- To keep them chewy, avoid overcooking the marshmallow mixture.
