Ingredients
Fruit
- 1 cup strawberries, stems intact
Coatings
- 1/2 cup white chocolate
- Red candy melts, amount as needed for drizzling
- Blue candy melts, amount as needed for drizzling
Toppings
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Rinse the strawberries thoroughly and then pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside to ensure they are completely dry before coating to help the chocolate adhere properly.
- Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it in 30-second intervals on regular power, stirring after each interval until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
- Dip Strawberries: Holding each strawberry by the stem, dip it into the melted white chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off for a few seconds to avoid clumps or thick coatings.
- Set White Chocolate: Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let them set at room temperature for about 20 minutes until the chocolate hardens completely.
- Melt Candy Melts: Melt the red and blue candy melts separately following the package instructions. Once melted, transfer each to its own resealable plastic bag, squeeze out the air, seal, and snip a tiny corner to create a piping bag for drizzle.
- Drizzle Blue Candy: Using the prepared blue candy melt bag, quickly drizzle the blue candy over the white chocolate-coated strawberries in back-and-forth motions to create thin lines.
- Drizzle Red Candy and Add Sprinkles: Immediately, drizzle the red candy melts in the same manner over the strawberries. While the drizzle is still wet, generously sprinkle patriotic red, white, and blue sprinkles over the strawberries to decorate.
- Final Setting: Allow the decorated strawberries to set fully for about 20 minutes at room temperature. To speed this process, refrigerate them for approximately 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to ensure the chocolate sticks well.
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
- To speed up setting times, refrigerate the strawberries after decorating.
- Store finished strawberries in a cool place or refrigerator and consume within 1–2 days for best freshness.
- If you don’t have candy melts, you can substitute with colored white chocolate melts or tinted white chocolate.
