Ingredients
Red Velvet Cookie Bars
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package red velvet cake mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
Topping
- 1 container (approximately 8 ounces) whipped cream cheese frosting
- Red and green sprinkles, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the cookie bars.
- Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, stir together the red velvet cake mix, vegetable oil, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and fully combined with no lumps.
- Press into Pan: Evenly press the cookie dough mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out to the edges and smoothing the top for an even layer.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges turn a golden brown color and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool Completely: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan to room temperature. This step prevents the frosting from melting.
- Add Frosting and Decorate: Once cooled, remove the cookie bars from the pan using the parchment paper. Spread the whipped cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle and Serve: Decorate the frosted bars with red and green sprinkles to add festive color. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Make sure the cookie bars are completely cooled before frosting to prevent the icing from melting.
- You can substitute homemade cream cheese frosting if preferred.
- Store leftover cookie bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
