Ingredients
Peanut Butter Filling
- ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Coating
- 24 ounces milk chocolate chips (approximately 2 bags; can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips)
Instructions
- Prepare Peanut Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the creamy peanut butter, softened butter, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until smooth and fully incorporated to create the filling.
- Melt Chocolate: Place the milk chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir well. Repeat heating in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Fill Heart Molds – First Layer: Pour enough melted chocolate into each heart-shaped mold cavity to cover the bottom evenly.
- Add Peanut Butter Filling: Spoon 1 to 2 teaspoons of the peanut butter mixture onto the chocolate layer in each mold. You can shape the filling into a flat heart or leave it as a small mound, according to your preference.
- Seal with Chocolate: Carefully cover the peanut butter filling with more melted chocolate until each mold is filled to the top. Gently tap the mold to eliminate any air bubbles and ensure even coverage.
- Chill: Place the filled molds in the refrigerator or freezer and allow them to harden completely.
- Store and Serve: Once solid, remove the chocolates from the molds and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Use creamy peanut butter for the smoothest texture; chunky peanut butter will create a different mouthfeel.
- If you prefer a darker chocolate flavor, semi-sweet chips can be used instead of milk chocolate.
- Make sure the peanut butter filling is well chilled before adding the final chocolate layer if you want firmer centers.
- For easier mold release, lightly grease the molds or use silicone molds designed for chocolate.
- Allow chocolates to come to room temperature for a few minutes before eating to enhance flavor and texture.
