Description

This Holiday Eggnog White Russian is a festive twist on the classic cocktail, combining vodka, coffee liqueur, and seasonal eggnog for a creamy, indulgent drink perfect for holiday gatherings. Served either layered or shaken for a smooth, frothy finish, it’s wonderfully spiced with a hint of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Ingredients

Liquor

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur such as Kahlúa

Other Ingredients

  • 1-2 dashes coffee bitters or ¼ ounce brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 ounces plain, non-alcoholic eggnog
  • Ice (as needed)

Garnish

  • Freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  1. Option 1: Layered & Stirred: Fill a lowball glass with ice. Pour the vodka first, followed by the coffee liqueur, then add the coffee bitters or cooled brewed coffee. Top with the eggnog. Stir lightly to create a beautiful marbled effect or stir more thoroughly for a uniformly mixed cocktail. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg or a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.
  2. Option 2: Shaken & Creamy: Add ice to a cocktail shaker, then pour in the vodka, coffee liqueur, coffee bitters (or cooled brewed coffee), and eggnog. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds or until the mixture is cold and frothy. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with nutmeg or a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use coffee bitters instead of brewed coffee.
  • Eggnog can be store-bought or homemade, but be sure it is plain and non-alcoholic to control the alcohol content.
  • Freshly grated nutmeg adds the best aroma and flavor to the garnish.
  • Use a lowball or old fashioned glass for traditional presentation.
  • Shake option provides a creamier texture, while layering offers a visually attractive cocktail.
