Description

This Grilled Pineapple Ice Cream recipe combines the smoky sweetness of grilled pineapple with creamy ice cream for a refreshing dessert that’s perfect for warm days. It’s easy to prepare with just a few ingredients and can be made using an ice cream maker or by freezing with intermittent stirring.

Ingredients

Ice Cream Base

  • 110 g fresh pineapple (weight without skin, approx 1 1-inch slice, 3/4 cup when chopped)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (120 ml double cream)
  • 1/2 cup milk (120 ml)
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Grill the Pineapple: Peel the slice of pineapple and grill it for approximately 4 minutes on each side until light grill marks appear and the pineapple softens. Set aside to cool.
  2. Freeze the Pineapple: Once cooled, chop the grilled pineapple into chunks if desired, place it in a freezer bag, and freeze until solid.
  3. Prepare the Ice Cream Mixture: When ready to make the ice cream, put the frozen pineapple chunks into a blender along with the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Blend for a couple of minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Chill and Freeze: Transfer the blended mixture to an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to churn and chill the ice cream. Alternatively, place the mixture into a container and freeze it, stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals, until fully frozen.
  5. Serve: Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy the delicious, tropical flavors of grilled pineapple ice cream.

Notes

  • Grilling the pineapple enhances its natural sweetness and adds a smoky flavor that pairs beautifully with the creamy ice cream.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, freezing the mixture and stirring periodically will still give you a smooth texture.
  • Use ripe pineapple for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • This recipe serves 3, but can easily be doubled or tripled for larger groups.
