Ingredients
Donut Batter
- 1 box White Cake Mix (16.25 oz box)
- 1 cup Fruity Pebbles Cereal
- 1 large Egg
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
- 3/4 cup Whole Milk
Fruity Pebbles Glaze & Topping
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1/4 cup Whole Milk
- 1 tbsp Melted Unsalted Butter
- 1 1/2 cups Fruity Pebbles Cereal
Instructions
- Combine Donut Batter: Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, egg, whole milk, and vegetable oil. Mix with a spatula until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- Fold in Cereal: Gently fold 1 cup of Fruity Pebbles cereal into the cake batter, carefully stirring to avoid crushing the cereal pieces.
- Prepare Piping Bag and Pans: Transfer the cereal-laden batter into a large piping bag or a Ziploc bag with the tip cut off to create a small opening. Grease two large donut pans with nonstick spray.
- Pipe Batter into Pans: Pipe the batter evenly into the donut molds, filling each mold only halfway to prevent overfilling during baking.
- Bake Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 11-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
- Cool Donuts: Allow the donuts to cool in the pans for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely prior to glazing.
- Prepare Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 1/4 cup whole milk, and melted unsalted butter until thick and smooth. Add milk one teaspoon at a time if needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Dip Donuts in Glaze and Cereal: Dip each cooled donut upside down into the glaze, letting excess drip off. Then immediately dip the glazed side into 1 1/2 cups of Fruity Pebbles cereal to coat thoroughly.
- Set the Donuts: Place the coated donuts back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set completely.
- Store or Serve: Enjoy the donuts immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Notes
- Do not overfill the donut pans to ensure perfect donut shape and avoid batter spilling over.
- Folding the cereal gently into the batter prevents the cereal from crushing and losing its crunch.
- The glaze consistency should be thick enough to cling to the donuts but thin enough to dip easily; adjust with milk as needed.
- If you do not have a piping bag, use a sturdy resealable plastic bag and snip off a small corner to pipe the batter.
- For freshest taste and best texture, consume donuts within three days.
