Ingredients
Ice Cream
- 4 large scoops ice cream
Coating
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (divided)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 cups corn flakes (crushed)
Toppings
- Whipped cream
- Hot fudge sauce
- Cherries
Instructions
- Scoop Ice Cream: Scoop the ice cream into round balls. Place each ball on a baking sheet or plate and freeze for at least 3 hours to ensure they are very firm before coating.
- Prepare Coating: Crush the corn flakes until they are coarse crumbs. In a small skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the crushed corn flakes and sauté for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the corn flakes are toasted and fragrant. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl.
- Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a small bowl, combine the white sugar with the remaining ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, mixing well.
- Coat Ice Cream Balls: Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer. Roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture, then press and roll into the toasted corn flakes to create a crunchy crust. It’s easiest to set the ice cream down on a flat surface and gently press the crumbs onto the surface to fully coat.
- Add Toppings: Drizzle hot fudge sauce over the coated ice cream balls. Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream and finish with a cherry on top. Serve immediately for the best texture contrast and flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the ice cream is very firm by freezing it for at least 3 hours to prevent melting when coating.
- Use regular corn flakes for the best texture; avoid sweetened cereals as they might alter the flavor balance.
- For variations, try different ice cream flavors like vanilla bean, chocolate, or coffee.
- Serve immediately after assembling to maintain the crispy coating and prevent melting.
