Ingredients
Fruit Filling
- 3 cups berries (fresh, frozen or canned – juicy varieties like blackberries, boysenberries, loganberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (fresh preferred)
Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup sugar (granulated, vegan)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp vegan butter (melted, of your choice)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF to ensure it reaches the correct temperature for even baking.
- Prepare Ramekins: Lightly coat the inside of your ramekins with a small amount of vegan butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Coat Berries: Drizzle the berries with lemon juice and gently toss to coat, enhancing their flavor and balancing sweetness.
- Divide Berries: Equally spoon the berry mixture into the prepared ramekins, distributing the fruit evenly.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar thoroughly to create the base for the crumble topping.
- Add Butter: Stir the melted vegan butter into the dry mixture until it forms a fine, crumbly texture.
- Top Berries: Spoon the crumble mixture over the berries in each ramekin, covering them evenly.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Place the filled ramekins on a parchment or foil-lined baking sheet to catch any berry juices that bubble over during baking.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven at 375ºF for 25 to 30 minutes, checking at 25 minutes. The crumble is done when the berries are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
- Cool: Remove the ramekins from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes to set and prevent burns when serving.
- Serve: Serve warm with your choice of non-dairy whipped topping or vegan ice cream for an indulgent, plant-based dessert.
Notes
- You can use any mix of berries based on availability and preference.
- Frozen berries work well; no need to thaw before using.
- For extra texture, add chopped nuts to the crumble topping if desired.
- Allow the crumble to cool slightly to avoid burns and to let the filling thicken slightly.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
