Description

These delightful Easter Nests are a fun and simple no-bake treat perfect for celebrating the holiday. Crispy vermicelli noodles are lightly fried to a golden shine, then coated in smooth melted semi-sweet chocolate and shaped into nest-like cups. After chilling to set, they’re filled with colorful chocolate Easter eggs to create an adorable and tasty festive snack that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 ounces dried rice vermicelli noodles
  • 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • Chocolate Easter eggs, as needed for filling

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot enough for frying.
  2. Fry the noodles: Break the vermicelli noodles into smaller strands to handle easily, then add them to the skillet. Cook for 2-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles become shiny and some turn light golden brown.
  3. Drain excess oil: Remove the fried noodles with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate in 30-second increments, stirring between each, for up to 1.5 minutes until completely smooth and melted.
  5. Mix noodles with chocolate: Add the fried vermicelli noodles to the melted chocolate and using your hands or a spatula, gently toss to coat all the noodles evenly with chocolate.
  6. Shape the nests: Line a muffin tin with silicone cups or plastic wrap. Press the chocolate-coated vermicelli mixture around the inside edge of each cup to form nest-like shapes.
  7. Chill to set: Refrigerate the nests for about 30 minutes until firm and fully set.
  8. Fill and serve: Place chocolate Easter eggs inside each nest and enjoy your festive treat!

Notes

  • Breaking the vermicelli noodles before frying helps make the nests easier to shape.
  • Be careful not to overcook the noodles—they should be just lightly golden, not burnt.
  • If you do not have silicone muffin cups, plastic wrap can help make nest removal easier.
  • Choose your favorite chocolate eggs or mini candy to fill the nests for a personalized touch.
  • Store leftover nests in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them crisp.
