Description
This Earl Grey Chia Pudding is a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack option infused with the fragrant and citrusy notes of Earl Grey tea. Creamy chia seeds swell to a perfect pudding-like texture, naturally sweetened with maple syrup and enhanced with vanilla extract. It’s easy to prepare, nourishing, and perfect for make-ahead meals.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 2 bags Earl Grey tea
- ½ cup chia seeds
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat the milk and steep the tea: In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-high heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add the Earl Grey tea bags, allowing them to steep for up to 10 minutes to infuse the milk with the tea’s flavors.
- Combine ingredients: Remove the tea bags from the milk, then pour the tea-infused milk into a bowl. Add chia seeds, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Initial chilling: Cover the bowl with a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Let it set for 5 to 10 minutes, then remove and give it a good second stir to prevent the chia seeds from clumping.
- Final setting: Return the pudding to the refrigerator and allow it to set for at least 2 to 3 hours or preferably overnight, so the chia seeds fully absorb the liquid and develop a creamy pudding texture.
- Serve: Before serving, give the pudding a final stir and add your choice of toppings like chopped nuts, cocoa nibs, or fresh berries for extra texture and flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute any milk preference such as almond, coconut, or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup to your taste.
- Steeping time can be adapted depending on how strong you want the tea flavor; longer steeping results in a bolder taste.
- Chia pudding thickens as it chills, so stirring midway helps ensure an even texture.
- Enjoy this pudding as a nutritious breakfast, snack, or dessert.
