Description

This Creamy No-Bake Strawberry Angel Food Cake is a light and refreshing dessert featuring airy angel food cake cubes soaked in a creamy strawberry Jell-O mixture with fresh strawberries and Cool Whip. Perfect for a quick, easy, and flavorful treat that requires no baking and is ready to chill for a few hours before serving.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 13 oz angel food cake

Jell-O Mixture

  • 3 oz strawberry Jell-O powder
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup ice

Fruit

  • 1 pound strawberries, washed, stems removed, and cut into quarter-size pieces

Cream Topping and Filling

  • 16 oz Cool Whip (two 8-ounce containers or one 16-ounce container divided)

Instructions

  1. Prepare The Cake Base: Using a long serrated knife, cut the angel food cake into 1 to 2-inch cubes.
  2. Spread Cake Cubes: Evenly spread the angel food cake pieces over the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan.
  3. Make Jell-O Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine 3 oz strawberry Jell-O powder with 1 cup boiling water. Whisk until completely dissolved.
  4. Cool Jell-O: Add 1/2 cup ice to the Jell-O mixture and stir until the ice is melted to cool the mixture and prevent strawberries from becoming too soft.
  5. Add Cool Whip to Jell-O: Stir in one 8-ounce container of Cool Whip into the cooled Jell-O mixture and whisk until creamy and smooth.
  6. Fold in Strawberries: Gently fold the quartered strawberries into the creamy Jell-O mixture.
  7. Assemble Dessert: Pour the strawberry Jell-O and Cool Whip mixture evenly over the angel food cake cubes in the pan.
  8. Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours, or until the mixture is firmly set.
  9. Top with Cool Whip: Before serving, spread the remaining 8 oz container of Cool Whip evenly over the top of the dessert.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Optionally garnish with additional fresh strawberries. Cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use a serrated knife for clean and even angel food cake cubes.
  • Ensure the Jell-O mixture is cooled before adding strawberries to prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Chilling time is crucial for the dessert to set properly.
  • For garnish, fresh strawberry slices work wonderfully for added freshness and color.
