Description

This Creamy Chicken Skillet is the ultimate comfort food, featuring tender, golden chicken breasts simmered in a rich garlic-Parmesan cream sauce. Made in just one pan with simple ingredients, this dish is quick, easy, and packed with flavor—perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

For the Creamy Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tbsp fresh thyme)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Chicken:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Cook for 5-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Creamy Sauce:

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, stirring to loosen any browned bits from the pan.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add heavy cream and stir to combine.

Finish the Sauce:

  1. Stir in Parmesan cheese and thyme, cooking until the sauce thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
  2. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine Chicken and Sauce:

  1. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top.
  2. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes to reheat the chicken and meld the flavors.

Serve and Garnish:

  1. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add sautéed mushrooms to the sauce for extra depth of flavor.
  • For a low-carb option, serve over zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice.
  • Substitute half-and-half for heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or pasta for a heartier meal.
