Description

Delight in the cozy warmth of these homemade Chocolate Orange Hot Cocoa Bombs. Crafted with smooth orange-flavored candy melts, rich hot chocolate mix, and mini marshmallows, these hot cocoa bombs are a perfect winter treat. Simply drop one into a cup of hot milk and watch it melt into a luxurious, citrus-infused hot chocolate, topped with a decorative chocolate orange slice.

Ingredients

Chocolate Shell

  • 2 cups Orange Candy Melts

Filling

  • 2 cups Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 24 slices Orange Chocolate Ball (thin slices of chocolate orange)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Place the orange candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt according to package instructions, usually heating in short bursts of 20-30 seconds and stirring in between until smooth.
  2. Coat the Molds: Spoon 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into each silicone mold cavity and use the back of a spoon or your fingers to evenly coat the inside walls with a thick layer to ensure durability.
  3. Freeze the Shells: Place the molds in the freezer for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate shell to harden completely.
  4. Remove Shells from Molds: Gently tap the sides of the molds to loosen the chocolate shells and carefully remove them, ensuring they maintain their shape.
  5. Fill the Cocoa Bombs: Fill half of the chocolate shells with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix, 1 slice of chocolate orange, and 8 mini marshmallows each.
  6. Seal the Bombs: Warm a microwave-safe plate until it’s hot to the touch, then press the empty chocolate shells upside down on the plate briefly to melt the edges. Immediately place the melted edges on top of the filled halves to seal them together firmly. Alternatively, pipe some melted chocolate along the edges to glue the halves together securely.
  7. Decorate: Drizzle melted chocolate over the sealed bombs and top each with an additional slice of chocolate orange for an attractive and tasty garnish.

Notes

  • Ensure the chocolate coating is thick enough to prevent cracks during handling.
  • Use silicone molds for easier removal of chocolate shells.
  • Store assembled cocoa bombs in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • To serve, drop one bomb into a mug and pour hot milk over it, stirring gently until melted and combined.
  • Be gentle when handling the chocolate shells to avoid breakage.
