Description

This Chocolate Fish Slice is a no-bake, decadent treat combining crunchy biscuit crumbs, rich cocoa, and sweet condensed milk, topped with a smooth chocolate icing. Perfectly chilled, it offers a delightful texture with chopped chocolate fish pieces, making it an easy and satisfying dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Base

  • 250g plain sweet biscuits, crushed
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 1215 chocolate fish, chopped

Icing

  • 1 ½ cups icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (extra, for icing)
  • 23 tbsp hot water or milk
  • 30g butter, softened (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Crush the biscuits: Crush the plain sweet biscuits into fine crumbs, leaving some slightly chunky pieces to add a bit of texture to the slice.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the biscuit crumbs, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and desiccated coconut, ensuring everything is evenly distributed.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Pour in the melted butter and sweetened condensed milk into the dry mix. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and completely combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate fish: Gently fold in the chopped chocolate fish pieces to spread them evenly throughout the base mixture.
  5. Press into tin: Line a square slice tin with baking paper. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the tin, smoothing the surface to prepare for the icing.
  6. Prepare the icing: In a separate bowl, combine icing sugar, extra 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, softened butter, and 2 to 3 tablespoons of hot water or milk. Mix well until the icing is smooth and spreadable.
  7. Spread icing: Evenly spread the chocolate icing mixture over the pressed slice base, creating a smooth top layer.
  8. Chill: Refrigerate the slice for at least 2 hours or until the slice is firm enough to cut and hold its shape.
  9. Serve: Once set, cut the dessert into squares or bars, and serve chilled for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute chocolate fish with any small chocolate pieces or chips if unavailable.
  • Ensure the butter for the icing is softened at room temperature to make mixing easier.
  • For a firmer slice, chill overnight.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
