Description

This Chocolate Chip Banana Avocado Bread is a healthier twist on classic banana bread, featuring creamy mashed avocado for extra moisture and nutrition. It’s packed with ripe bananas and studded with mini chocolate chips, resulting in a soft, flavorful quick bread perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups white whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

Add-ins

  • 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips (Enjoy Life brand recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9×5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the white whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt until evenly combined.
  3. Prepare Fruit Mixture: In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas and ripe avocado thoroughly using the back of a fork until you achieve a smooth, pureed consistency.
  4. Combine Wet Ingredients: Add sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and eggs into the banana and avocado mixture. Whisk these together until the mixture is fully blended and smooth.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually fold the dry flour mixture into the wet banana-avocado mixture. Stir gently until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the mini chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter, distributing them well.
  7. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. To check doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan until it is just warm enough to handle, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice and enjoy your moist, flavorful bread.
