Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 banana
- Handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Handful of mini marshmallows
- Peanut butter (optional)
- Biscoff spread (optional)
- Cut up candy bars (optional)
- Chopped nuts (optional)
- Honey Grahams or Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (optional)
- Graham crackers (for dipping, optional)
Instructions
- Prep the bananas: Gather your bananas, one per serving or as many as your fire or BBQ can accommodate.
- Make slits in the banana: Slice the banana about ¼ inch deep lengthwise down the middle. Gently pull back the peel to create some space between the peel and the banana itself.
- Stuff the banana boats: Fill the banana slits with your choice of toppings, such as a mix of milk and dark chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Add peanut butter, Biscoff, chopped nuts, or candy bars if desired.
- Wrap the bananas: Place each stuffed banana on a 12-inch square of aluminum foil. Top with a slightly smaller piece of parchment paper. Wrap from the bottom up, crimping the top to seal and leave some space between the banana and foil.
- Cook on coals: Place the wrapped bananas directly on warm coals with no active flame. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the toppings are melted and gooey.
- Serve and enjoy: Remove from the coals with tongs. Eat directly from the peel or scoop out into a bowl. Serve with graham crackers for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Make sure the coals are warm with no active flames to avoid burning the bananas.
- You can customize the fillings extensively—try different chocolates, fruits, or nut butters.
- Double wrap with parchment paper to prevent foil flavors from transferring to the bananas.
- Use tongs to handle the hot foil packets safely.
- Leftover banana boats can be refrigerated and gently reheated.
