Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and generously spray a donut pan with non-stick spray to ensure easy removal of the donuts after baking.
- Make the Batter: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the entire box of cake mix with 2 cups of unsweetened apple sauce. Mix thoroughly until a smooth batter forms, without large lumps.
- Fill the Donut Molds: Pour the batter evenly into each donut mold in the pan, filling each about halfway. You may have some extra batter left over depending on the size of your molds.
- Bake the Donuts: Place the pan in the oven and bake the donuts for 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. Once done, remove the pan and allow the donuts to sit for 10 minutes to cool slightly.
- Melt the Frosting: Transfer a few scoops of frosting into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 20 seconds, or until the frosting becomes liquid and easy to spread.
