Description

Delicious and easy-to-make 2 Ingredient Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers featuring flaky puff pastry filled with sweet apple pie filling, baked to golden perfection and topped with a smooth vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Pastry & Filling

  • 17.3 oz puff pastry (1 sheet, thawed)
  • 21 oz apple pie filling (1 can)
  • 1 egg (beaten with 1 tsp water)

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Cut: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 equal squares for the turnovers.
  3. Fill: Place approximately 3 tablespoons of apple pie filling in the center of each puff pastry square.
  4. Seal: Beat the egg with 1 teaspoon of water to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash onto two adjacent edges (forming an ‘L’ shape) of each pastry square. Fold the pastry to form a triangle and press the edges together firmly with a fork to seal.
  5. Bake: Arrange the prepared turnovers on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and puffed.
  6. Cool: Remove the turnovers from the oven and allow them to cool completely before glazing.
  7. Mix Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency by adding more milk for a thinner glaze or powdered sugar for thicker.
  8. Drizzle: Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the cooled apple turnovers for a sweet finishing touch.

Notes

  • Using slightly less than 3 tablespoons of filling ensures the turnovers can be sealed properly without leaking.
  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed for easier handling and better puff.
  • Let the turnovers cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
