Description
Watermelon Sorbet is a refreshing, light, and naturally sweet frozen dessert made with fresh watermelon, lime, and sugar. It’s simple to make, vegan, and perfect for cooling off on hot days.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed (about 1/2 a medium watermelon)
1/4 cup sugar (or more, depending on the sweetness of your watermelon)
1 tablespoon lime juice (optional, for added flavor)
1 tablespoon water (optional, to help blend)
Instructions
Prepare the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon into cubes, removing the rind and any seeds. Place the cubes into a blender or food processor.
- Blend the Mixture: Add sugar and lime juice to the blender with the watermelon. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add a tablespoon of water if the mixture is too thick to blend.
- Taste and Adjust Sweetness: Taste the watermelon puree and adjust the sweetness with more sugar or lime juice if needed, then blend again.
- Chill the Mixture: Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish or a freezer-safe container. Spread it out evenly.
- Freeze the Sorbet: Place the mixture in the freezer for at least 4 hours, scraping the mixture every 30 minutes for a smooth, icy texture. Continue until the sorbet is fully frozen (2-3 hours).
- Serve: Once frozen, scoop the sorbet into bowls or glasses. Garnish with fresh mint or lime wedges, if desired.
Notes
- Mint Watermelon Sorbet: Add fresh mint leaves to the blender for a refreshing twist.
- Coconut Watermelon Sorbet: Add coconut water for a tropical flavor.
- Alcoholic Sorbet: Add a splash of rum or vodka for a boozy version.
