Ingredients
- 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers
 - 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled (or espresso)
 - 1 cup heavy whipping cream
 - 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
 - ½ cup powdered sugar
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
 - 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
 - Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)
 
Instructions
Prepare the coffee: Brew the coffee or espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Make the mascarpone filling: In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
 - Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
 - Combine the mixtures: Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and combined.
 - Soak the ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
 - Assemble the cups: In individual cups, layer the soaked ladyfingers, followed by a layer of mascarpone cream. Repeat the layers, finishing with mascarpone cream on top.
 - Chill the cups: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the dessert to set.
 - Serve: Just before serving, dust the tops with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings or additional cocoa powder.
 
Notes
- These cups can be made ahead of time and are best chilled for a few hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
 - If you prefer, substitute ladyfingers with any light, sponge-like cake such as angel food or pound cake.
 - To add more coffee flavor, dissolve instant coffee in the heavy cream or add a coffee liqueur to the mascarpone mixture.
