Description

Tennessee Peach Pudding is a southern dessert that combines fresh peaches with a sweet, cake-like batter, topped with a rich, buttery sauce. Perfect for any occasion, it’s a comforting treat with a golden, fluffy texture and a sweet peach flavor.

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or 2 cans of peaches, drained)
  2. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  3. 1 cup granulated sugar
  4. 1 cup self-rising flour
  5. 1 cup whole milk
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  8. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  9. 1/2 cup brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly over the bottom.
  4. Place the sliced peaches evenly on top of the batter. If using canned peaches, make sure to drain them well before adding.
  5. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top of the peaches (optional).
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is golden brown and set, with the fruit bubbling around the edges.
  7. Let the pudding cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.

Notes

  1. Substitute peaches with nectarines, plums, or berries for a different flavor.
  2. Add a pinch of ground nutmeg or allspice for a spiced version of the pudding.
  3. Top with caramel sauce, toasted pecans, or cinnamon ice cream for extra flair.
  4. If using frozen peaches, be sure to thaw and drain them to avoid excess moisture in the pudding.
  5. This dessert can be made ahead and reheated in the oven before serving.
