Description

Tater Tot Skewers are a fun twist on the classic potato dish, featuring crispy tater tots skewered with cheese, bacon, and veggies, then baked or grilled for a delicious bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

  1. 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  2. 68 wooden or metal skewers
  3. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
  4. 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
  5. 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  6. 1/2 cup sour cream or ranch dressing (for dipping)
  7. Salt and pepper, to taste
  8. Optional: Chopped vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or follow the cooking instructions on the bag of tater tots. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy. Alternatively, preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

  1. Once the tater tots are baked and cooled slightly, thread 4-5 tater tots onto each skewer. Alternate with cheese, bacon, or veggies like bell peppers or zucchini. Ensure the tots are packed tightly but with space between them for even cooking.
  2. For baking: Place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and return to the oven for 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted and skewers are hot.
  3. For grilling: Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until crispy and cheese is melted.
  4. Once cooked, sprinkle with chopped green onions, salt, and pepper. Serve with sour cream, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  1. Variations: Add a drizzle of hot sauce or red pepper flakes for a spicy version. Buffalo sauce can also be used for a buffalo-style twist.
  2. Grilled Option: Grill the skewers for a smoky flavor.
  3. Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
