Description

Decadent, fudgy, and packed with double the chocolate, these Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are a dream come true for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  6. 1 cup granulated sugar
  7. 1 large egg
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9. 1/4 cup milk
  10. 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  11. 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. The dough will be thick.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips: Fold in both the semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop the dough: Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake the cookies: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Don’t worry if they look a little underbaked—they’ll firm up as they cool.
  8. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve: Enjoy your double chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk or just on their own!

Notes

  • If using salted butter, reduce or omit the added salt in the recipe to avoid making the cookies too salty.
  • For extra texture, you can fold in chopped nuts like walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts.
  • For a minty twist, add 1/2 teaspoon of mint extract and use mint chocolate chips in place of dark chocolate chips.
