Description

Sweet and Spicy Ground Turkey & Broccoli Bowls are a quick, flavorful, and balanced meal featuring lean ground turkey cooked with a deliciously tangy sweet and spicy sauce, served alongside tender steamed broccoli and your choice of grains or cauliflower rice.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb lean ground turkey
    3 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons olive oil or sesame oil
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
12 teaspoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Cooked brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice, for serving
Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  1. In the same skillet, add remaining oil and cook ground turkey, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and ginger to the turkey, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, sriracha, vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Pour sauce over turkey and cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Return broccoli to the skillet and toss to combine with turkey and sauce.
  5. Serve over cooked brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  1. Substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or beef.
  2. Add sliced bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch.
  3. Use hoisin sauce or teriyaki sauce instead of soy sauce for different flavor profiles.
  4. Top with chopped peanuts or cashews for added texture.
  5. Use coconut aminos for a soy-free version.
  6. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  7. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave. Add a splash of water or broth if needed to loosen sauce.
