Description
This Super Easy Butter Tarts recipe delivers a classic Canadian dessert featuring flaky tart shells filled with a rich, sweet, and gooey filling made from brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, and butter, enhanced with raisins and crunchy walnuts. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth with minimal effort.
Ingredients
Shells and Filling
- 18 tart shells (ready-to-bake)
- ¼ cup raisins
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ cup golden corn syrup
- ¼ cup margarine or butter (melted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup walnuts (finely chopped)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375° F (190° C) to prepare for baking your butter tarts.
- Prepare Tart Shells: Arrange the 18 ready-to-bake tart shells on a baking sheet. Place about a teaspoon of raisins into each tart shell according to your preference.
- Make Filling: In a blender, combine the eggs, packed brown sugar, a pinch of salt, golden corn syrup, melted margarine or butter, and vanilla extract. Blend the mixture until it is smooth and well combined to form the filling.
- Fill Tart Shells: Pour the blended filling evenly into each tart shell over the raisins, ensuring each tart is filled adequately without overflowing. Then sprinkle the finely chopped walnuts evenly on top of each filled tart.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Bake until the filling is set and the tart shells are golden brown.
- Cool: Remove the butter tarts from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before serving to ensure the filling firms up properly.
Notes
- For a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts and sprinkle additional raisins on top if desired.
- To add a twist, consider substituting raisins with dried cranberries or chopped dates.
- Be careful not to overfill the tart shells to avoid spillage during baking.
- Butter tarts are best enjoyed at room temperature and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
