Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup water or apple cider (for baking)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottom intact to form a bowl.
- In a mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar or maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, and dried fruit.
- Add melted butter and vanilla extract to the mixture; stir until well combined.
- Stuff the oat mixture into the apples, gently packing it in.
- Place the stuffed apples upright in a baking dish and pour water or apple cider into the base of the dish.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until apples are tender and filling is golden.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with optional toppings like vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
