Description

Stuffed Baked Apples are a cozy, spiced dessert featuring tender baked apples filled with a warm mixture of oats, nuts, and dried fruit. Naturally sweetened and customizable, they’re perfect for fall evenings, holidays, or a wholesome treat any time of year.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup water or apple cider (for baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottom intact to form a bowl.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar or maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, and dried fruit.
  4. Add melted butter and vanilla extract to the mixture; stir until well combined.
  5. Stuff the oat mixture into the apples, gently packing it in.
  6. Place the stuffed apples upright in a baking dish and pour water or apple cider into the base of the dish.
  7. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until apples are tender and filling is golden.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with optional toppings like vanilla ice cream or yogurt.

Notes

  • Use firm apple varieties that hold their shape when baked.
  • Do not overcore or overfill to prevent bursting during baking.
  • Prep the filling ahead for quick assembly before baking.
  • Serve with ice cream, yogurt, or whipped cream for an extra treat.
