Description

Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a layered dessert featuring a salty-sweet pretzel crust, creamy whipped cream cheese filling, and a refreshing strawberry Jell-O topping with fresh strawberries. Perfect for gatherings, it’s a nostalgic treat with contrasting textures and flavors.

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
  2. 3/4 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  3. 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  4. 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  5. 8 oz whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  6. 6 oz package strawberry-flavored gelatin (Jell-O)
  7. 2 cups boiling water
  8. 1/2 cup cold water
  9. 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  1. In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels with 1/4 cup sugar and melted butter until combined.
  2. Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish to form an even crust.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool completely.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese with remaining 1/2 cup sugar until smooth.
  5. Fold in whipped topping until well combined.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crust, sealing all edges. Refrigerate while preparing the topping.
  7. Dissolve strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in cold water and allow to cool until slightly thickened.
  8. Fold sliced strawberries into the gelatin mixture.
  9. Gently pour the strawberry mixture over the cream layer.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
  11. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

  1. Use raspberries and raspberry Jell-O for a different flavor.
  2. Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free pretzels.
  3. Ensure the cream layer reaches the edges to prevent a soggy crust.
  4. Homemade stabilized whipped cream can replace Cool Whip.
  5. Chill overnight for best results.
