Ingredients

1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, mashed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.

- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cakes are cooled, frost with your choice of frosting (strawberry buttercream or cream cheese frosting work well) and garnish with additional fresh strawberries if desired.
