Description

Strawberry Chocolate Dessert Bars are layered treats featuring a buttery crust, fresh sliced strawberries, and rich chocolate chips, baked together for a sweet, slightly tart, and indulgent dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  4. 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  5. 1/2 tsp salt
  6. 2 large eggs
  7. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  8. 1 tsp baking powder
  9. 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  10. 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  11. Optional: 8 oz cream cheese for cheesecake layer
  12. Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, salt, and cold butter. Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly.
  2. Press about two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the prepared pan to form the crust.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs with brown sugar and vanilla. Stir in baking powder and remaining crumb mixture to form a soft dough.
  4. Layer sliced strawberries evenly over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the strawberries.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the top, leaving some fruit and chocolate visible.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and edges are set.
  8. Cool completely before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  1. For a cheesecake version, spread sweetened cream cheese over the crust before adding strawberries.
  2. Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed and well-drained.
  3. Don’t overload with fruit to prevent soggy bars.
  4. Cool completely before slicing for best texture.
