Ready in just 15 minutes, it’s perfect for spreading on toast, mixing into yogurt, or adding a fresh fruity flavor to your favorite dishes without any added preservatives.
Ingredients
Jam Ingredients
- 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- ½ tablespoon lemon juice
- Agave nectar, stevia, maple syrup, or honey (to taste)
Instructions
- Cook the Strawberries: Place the strawberries in a pan over medium heat. Cook them until they begin to break down and the mixture starts bubbling. Use a spoon or potato masher to mash the berries gently as they cook to create a jam-like texture.
- Add Chia Seeds and Lemon Juice: Stir in the chia seeds and lemon juice, then taste the mixture. If you prefer a sweeter jam, add your choice of sweetener such as agave nectar, stevia, maple syrup, or honey to your liking.
- Cool and Store: Allow the jam to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. You can use the jam immediately or transfer it to a container and refrigerate. The jam will keep well in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- The jam thickens further as it cools due to the chia seeds absorbing moisture.
- Use fresh or frozen strawberries interchangeably; frozen may take a little longer to cook down.
- Adjust the sweetness depending on your taste preference or dietary needs.
- This jam is naturally gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.
- Refrigerate after opening and consume within one week for best quality.
