Description

Strawberry apple crisp is a warm, fruity dessert featuring sweet strawberries and tart apples baked under a buttery oat topping. It’s simple, cozy, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

    1. For the filling:
    2. 3 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled and sliced
    3. 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
    4. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    5. 1/4 cup granulated sugar or honey
    6. 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder
    7. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  1. For the topping:
  2. 3/4 cup rolled oats
  3. 1/2 cup all-purpose or whole wheat flour
  4. 1/3 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  7. 1/3 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  8. Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish.

  1. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon until evenly coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  2. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly. Stir in nuts if using.
  3. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
  4. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  5. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor.
  • Peeling apples creates a softer filling but is optional.
  • Use maple syrup for a naturally sweetened version.
  • Top with ice cream, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt.
