Description

Steak and Frites Skewers are an elevated version of the classic French steak and fries, served as bite-sized skewers. Tender steak cubes are paired with crispy fries and drizzled with a flavorful dipping sauce, making this a fun and delicious appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb flank steak or sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
    2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
2 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin fries
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    Salt, to taste
    1/4 cup mayonnaise
    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    1 teaspoon lemon juice
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the fries: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the cut fries with olive oil and salt, then spread them on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  1. Prepare the steak skewers: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak cubes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached. Rest the steak for a few minutes, then thread the cubes onto small skewers.
  2. Assemble the skewers: Alternately thread the crispy fries and steak cubes onto the skewers. Stack a couple of fries for added crunch if necessary.
  3. Prepare the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Serve: Arrange the skewers on a platter, drizzle with the dipping sauce, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Seasoned fries: You can add garlic powder, rosemary, or other herbs to the fries for extra flavor.
  • Vegetarian option: Substitute steak with plant-based protein like tempeh or portobello mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
  • Spicy sauce: Add hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the dipping sauce for extra heat.
