Description

Enjoy a delightful homemade Starbucks Cheese Danish pastry that features flaky puff pastry filled with a smooth, sweet cream cheese mixture. Perfectly golden and flaky, these pastries make a great breakfast or snack treat.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

Cheese Filling

  • 5 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the danish pastry.
  2. Prepare Cheese Filling: In a bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Cut Puff Pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 6 equal rectangles. Arrange these on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  4. Pipe Cheese Mixture: Transfer the cream cheese filling into a piping bag and cut off the tip. Pipe a thick line of the mixture down the center of each puff pastry rectangle.
  5. Prepare Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water until blended. This will help give the pastry edges a golden, shiny finish.
  6. Brush Edges: Using a pastry brush, brush the egg wash along the edges of each puff pastry rectangle to help them brown evenly and develop a beautiful crust.
  7. Bake Pastries: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the pastries are puffed up and golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the danish pastries from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving to maintain their crispness.

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before working with it to prevent cracking.
  • You can dust the finished danishes with powdered sugar or drizzle with a light glaze for extra sweetness.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, use a zip-top plastic bag and snip off one corner to pipe the filling.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
