Description
This Simple Strawberry Smoothie is a quick and nutritious blended drink perfect for breakfast or a refreshing snack. Combining frozen strawberries, bananas, almond milk, and almond butter, it creates a creamy, naturally sweet smoothie packed with fruit flavors and optional boosts like oats and flax seeds for extra fiber and nutrients.
Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups to 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk or water
- 10 ounces (2 cups) frozen strawberries, thawed for 5 to 10 minutes
- 1 ½ cups frozen bananas (sliced into ½ inch pieces)
- ¼ cup almond butter
Optional Nutrition Boosters
- ¼ cup old-fashioned oats
- 2 tablespoons flax seed
- 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup, if desired for sweetness
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a blender, add the almond milk first, followed by the thawed frozen strawberries, frozen banana slices, almond butter, and any optional oats or flax seed you choose to include.
- Blend the Smoothie: Start blending on low speed until the blender gains traction, then increase to the highest speed or use the smoothie setting. Use the tamper if your blender has one and pause to scrape down the sides as needed to ensure smooth blending. If the strawberries are stubborn, let the mixture rest for a few minutes before resuming blending. Add up to ½ cup more almond milk if the mixture is too thick to blend smoothly.
- Sweeten and Serve: Once the smoothie is creamy and completely smooth, taste it and blend in maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter. Pour into 2 to 4 glasses according to desired serving size and serve immediately for best freshness.
Notes
- Thaw frozen strawberries for 5 to 10 minutes before blending to make blending easier.
- Freezing bananas in ½ inch slices helps them blend more efficiently.
- Optional oats and flax seeds add fiber and nutrition but can be omitted if desired.
- Adjust maple syrup amount to taste depending on sweetness preference.
- Adding extra almond milk helps achieve desired smoothie consistency if too thick.
- Serve immediately for best flavor and texture; smoothie may separate if left to sit.
