Description

Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups are a fun, flavorful breakfast or brunch treat that combines savory sausage with the sweetness of French toast. Sausage links are wrapped in bread, dipped in a cinnamon-infused French toast batter, and fried to golden perfection. Perfect for busy mornings or special occasions, these roll-ups are quick to prepare and customizable with a variety of fillings and toppings.

Ingredients

8 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche)

8 sausage links ( turkey, or vegetarian)

2 eggs

¼ cup milk

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Butter for frying

Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage links until fully cooked. Set aside to cool slightly.

  • Prepare the French Toast Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract (if using).

  • Roll the Bread: Trim the crusts from the bread and flatten each slice with a rolling pin. Place a cooked sausage on one end of each slice and roll tightly.

  • Dip and Fry: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll-up into the French toast batter, ensuring it’s fully coated, and place seam-side down in the skillet. Cook until golden brown on all sides.

  • Serve: Serve the roll-ups with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Sweet Version: Add sliced fruits like bananas, strawberries, or berries inside the roll-ups for extra sweetness.

  • Savory Version: Add cheese (cheddar, pepper jack) or use herb-flavored sausage for a savory twist.

  • Healthier Option: Use whole wheat bread and turkey or vegetarian sausage for a lighter version.
