Description

A hearty and savory sandwich that combines tender roast beef, flavorful condiments, and optional cheese and veggies, all nestled between two slices of hearty bread. Perfect for lunch or dinner, this classic sandwich offers a satisfying blend of robust flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, whole grain, rye, or a baguette)
46 slices of roast beef (deli-style)
12 slices of cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or provolone)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or horseradish sauce (optional)
1/4 red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
    Lettuce or spinach leaves (optional)
    12 tomato slices (optional)
    Pickles (optional)
    Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Spread Dijon mustard or horseradish sauce (if using) on one or both slices of bread.
  2. Layer the roast beef on one slice of bread, arranging it evenly across the slice.
  3. Add your cheese slices on top of the beef.
  4. If you’re adding vegetables, layer the lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on top of the beef and cheese.
  5. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Place the second slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich.
  7. Press down gently, slice the sandwich in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Grilled version: Toast the bread or grill the sandwich to melt the cheese and add extra crunch to the bread.
  • Different spreads: Swap the Dijon mustard or horseradish sauce for barbecue sauce, mayonnaise, or even a pesto spread for a new twist.
  • Add extras: For extra flavor, you can add roasted peppers, mushrooms, or a slice of bacon.
  • Use a different cheese: Try blue cheese, gouda, or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
