Description

Red Velvet Brownies are fudgy, chewy brownies with a striking red hue and subtle tangy cocoa flavor. Topped with white chocolate chips or cream cheese swirls, they make a stunning and indulgent treat for holidays, Valentine’s Day, or any special occasion.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1/4 tsp salt
  4. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  5. 1 cup granulated sugar
  6. 2 large eggs
  7. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  8. 1 tbsp red food coloring
  9. 1 tsp white vinegar
  10. 1/4 cup buttermilk or plain yogurt
  11. Optional: 1/2 cup white chocolate chips or sweetened cream cheese for swirl

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla, food coloring, and vinegar.
  3. Mix in buttermilk or yogurt until smooth.
  4. Fold in dry ingredients until a thick batter forms.
  5. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle white chocolate chips or swirl in dollops of sweetened cream cheese.
  7. Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  1. Do not overbake—brownies should be fudgy, not dry.
  2. For natural coloring, beet powder can be used instead of food dye.
  3. Cream cheese frosting is a delicious topping option.
  4. Recipe can be doubled and baked in a 9×13-inch pan.
  5. Check doneness with a toothpick for best results.
