Instructions
Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder (if using), baking powder, and salt until fully combined.
- Add the Wet Ingredients: Add the milk, vegetable oil (or butter), and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until smooth and fully incorporated. The batter should be thick but pourable.
- Optional Add-ins: Stir in any additional mix-ins such as chocolate chips, peanut butter, berries, or Nutella.
- Microwave: Microwave the mug on high for 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds. Check the cake at 1 minute—if it’s still wet in the middle, microwave for an additional 15-30 seconds. The cake should rise slightly and firm up but still be moist in the center.
