Description

Delightfully sweet and festive Rice Krispie Treats made with classic marshmallow and Rice Krispies cereal base, decorated with pink baking chips and Valentine’s Day sprinkles. These treats are perfect for a fun holiday dessert or snack that’s quick to make and kid-friendly.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup marshmallows
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Decoration Ingredients

  • 1 cup pink baking chips
  • Pink Valentine’s Day sprinkles (for decorating)
  • Red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Combine with cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir carefully until the marshmallow mixture evenly coats all the cereal.
  3. Form the base layer: Transfer the mixture into a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Gently press and pat the mixture evenly on the surface to form a compact base. Allow it to cool completely and set.
  4. Melt pink baking chips: Melt the pink baking chips in the microwave using 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring between each interval until smooth. If desired, add red food coloring to enhance the pink hue.
  5. Cut into shapes: Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts from the cooled Rice Krispie base.
  6. Dip in pink coating: Dip half of each heart-shaped treat into the melted pink chips, coating them partially.
  7. Decorate and set: While the coating is still wet, sprinkle pink Valentine’s Day sprinkles on top. Place the treats on parchment paper and allow them to cool fully to set the coating before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, press the Rice Krispie mixture firmly into the pan so the treats hold their shape well when cut.
  • You can substitute pink baking chips with white chocolate chips tinted with food coloring.
  • Store leftover treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • Carefully monitor the melting of marshmallows to prevent burning or sticking to the pan.
  • For a festive twist, try using different colored sprinkles according to other holidays or celebrations.
