Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches are a classic American favorite, featuring thinly sliced ribeye steak, sautéed onions, and gooey melted cheese on a soft hoagie roll. This quick and easy recipe brings authentic Philly flavors to your kitchen, making it a perfect choice for a hearty weeknight dinner or a crowd-pleasing meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz for an authentic touch)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients – Slice the steak thinly and prep the onions and other vegetables.
  2. Sauté the onions and veggies – Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onions until soft and caramelized. Add peppers and mushrooms if using.
  3. Cook the steak – Push the veggies to the side and add the steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until browned.
  4. Melt the cheese – Lower the heat, place cheese slices over the steak, and let them melt. If using Cheez Whiz, warm it separately.
  5. Assemble the sandwiches – Slice the hoagie rolls and lightly toast if desired. Load with the steak and cheese mixture.
  6. Serve immediately – Enjoy hot with fries, onion rings, or a side salad.

Notes

  • Best Cheese Options: Provolone, Cheez Whiz, or American cheese.
  • For a Spicy Kick: Add jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • Low-Carb Alternative: Use lettuce wraps instead of a roll.
  • Storage: Refrigerate the filling for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
