Ingredients
Ingredients
- 40 Peeps marshmallows (any colors desired)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- Optional toppings: sprinkles, additional marshmallows, Easy candy, jelly beans, etc.
Instructions
- Melt Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, ensuring it doesn’t brown or burn for a smooth base.
- Melt Peeps: Add the Peeps to the melted butter and allow them to melt completely without stirring, allowing the Peeps to soften and blend with the butter.
- Mix Cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until the mixture is just combined, taking care not to overmix to maintain the light texture.
- Press Into Pan: Spread the sticky mixture evenly into an 8 x 8-inch baking pan, pressing gently to create an even layer.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle your choice of sprinkles, additional marshmallows, Easy candy, jelly beans, or other decorations on top, pressing lightly so they adhere.
- Cool and Slice: Allow the bars to cool fully in the pan to set, then use a sharp knife to slice into desired serving sizes and enjoy.
Notes
- Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to press the mixture into the pan to prevent sticking.
- Different Peeps colors can be mixed for a vibrant look, but be aware this may affect sweetness slightly.
- For easier slicing, cool the treats completely or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes before cutting.
- This recipe is quick and best enjoyed fresh within a couple of days for optimal texture.
