Description

This fun and festive twist on classic Rice Krispie Treats uses colorful Peeps marshmallows to create a sweet, gooey, and visually appealing dessert. Perfect for holidays or any celebration, these treats combine the buttery, crispy texture of Rice Krispies with the vibrant colors and sweetness of Peeps, making a delightful snack that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 40 Peeps marshmallows (any colors desired)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Optional toppings: sprinkles, additional marshmallows, Easy candy, jelly beans, etc.

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, ensuring it doesn’t brown or burn for a smooth base.
  2. Melt Peeps: Add the Peeps to the melted butter and allow them to melt completely without stirring, allowing the Peeps to soften and blend with the butter.
  3. Mix Cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until the mixture is just combined, taking care not to overmix to maintain the light texture.
  4. Press Into Pan: Spread the sticky mixture evenly into an 8 x 8-inch baking pan, pressing gently to create an even layer.
  5. Add Toppings: Sprinkle your choice of sprinkles, additional marshmallows, Easy candy, jelly beans, or other decorations on top, pressing lightly so they adhere.
  6. Cool and Slice: Allow the bars to cool fully in the pan to set, then use a sharp knife to slice into desired serving sizes and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to press the mixture into the pan to prevent sticking.
  • Different Peeps colors can be mixed for a vibrant look, but be aware this may affect sweetness slightly.
  • For easier slicing, cool the treats completely or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes before cutting.
  • This recipe is quick and best enjoyed fresh within a couple of days for optimal texture.
