Description

Orange Creamsicle Cups are a fun and refreshing dessert with a creamy orange base and a smooth vanilla cream topping, offering a delightful combination of sweet and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup fresh orange juice (about 2-3 oranges)
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
    1 packet unflavored gelatin
    1/4 cup water
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
Zest of 1 orange (optional, for extra flavor)
1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions

Prepare the Orange Layer: Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the 1/4 cup of water and let it bloom for 5 minutes.

  1. In a saucepan, combine the orange juice and sweetened condensed milk over medium heat. Stir until fully combined and heated through, but do not boil.
  2. Add the bloomed gelatin to the orange mixture and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Pour the orange mixture into small cups or molds. Place them in the refrigerator to set for at least 2 hours.
  4. Prepare the Vanilla Cream Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, sour cream (or yogurt), vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  5. Once the orange layer has set, spoon or pipe the vanilla cream over the orange layer and smooth with a spoon or spatula.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle with orange zest for added flavor.
  7. Chill the cups for another 1-2 hours until the vanilla layer is firm.

Notes

  • You can swirl the orange and vanilla layers together before setting for a fun variation.
  • Try adding crushed graham crackers, cookies, or pretzels between layers for added crunch.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut cream and non-dairy yogurt.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freezing is possible, though the texture might change slightly when thawed.
