Description

This One Pot French Onion Pasta is a rich, creamy twist on the classic French onion soup, featuring caramelized onions, Gruyère, and Parmesan for an irresistibly cheesy dish. Made in a single pot for easy cleanup, this comforting meal is perfect for cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup white wine (optional)
  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions – Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden brown (about 25-30 minutes).

2️⃣ Add Garlic & Herbs – Stir in garlic and thyme; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

3️⃣ Deglaze the Pot – Pour in white wine (if using), scraping up browned bits from the bottom. Simmer for 2 minutes.

4️⃣ Cook the Pasta – Add broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then add pasta. Cook until tender, stirring occasionally.

5️⃣ Make It Creamy – Reduce heat, stir in heavy cream, Gruyère, and Parmesan until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

6️⃣ Serve – Garnish with extra cheese and fresh thyme. Enjoy!
