Description

This Nutella Puff Pastry Ring is a delightful and visually stunning dessert perfect for any occasion. It features layers of flaky puff pastry filled with rich Nutella and crunchy walnuts, twisted into a beautiful ring shape, baked to golden perfection, and garnished with powdered sugar, fresh cranberries, and optional rosemary for a festive touch.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 1 Puff Pastry Package (2 Pack)

Filling

  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • 3 tablespoons Finely Chopped Nuts (walnuts recommended)

Toppings

  • Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh Cranberries (for garnish)
  • Fresh Rosemary (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking the puff pastry ring.
  2. Prepare Pastry Base: Lay one sheet of puff pastry flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, providing a non-stick surface and easy cleanup.
  3. Spread Nutella: Evenly spread the ¼ cup of Nutella in the center of the first pastry sheet, avoiding the edges to prevent leaking during baking.
  4. Add Nuts and Second Layer: Sprinkle the finely chopped walnuts over the Nutella layer, then carefully place the second puff pastry sheet on top. Smooth out gently and press lightly to seal the layers.
  5. Cut Out Circle: Place a large bowl on top of the layered pastry and cut around it to form a large circle, creating the base shape of your ring.
  6. Mark Center and Slices: Set a smaller glass or bowl in the center of the large circle. From this point, use a knife to cut straight lines from the rim of the center to the edge of the pastry, making four slices to divide the ring.
  7. Further Slice Sections: Cut each of the four slices in half, then halve those pieces again, resulting in sixteen even strips.
  8. Twist Strips: Take two adjacent strips at the ends, twist them away from each other one full turn, then join the ends together and pinch to seal. Repeat with all pairs to create the twisted ring effect.
  9. Bake: Place the prepared ring in the oven and bake at 375ºF for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, dust with powdered sugar, and garnish with fresh cranberries and optional rosemary sprigs for a festive presentation.

Notes

  • Use chilled puff pastry for easier handling and better puff.
  • If walnuts are unavailable, pecans or almonds can be good substitutes.
  • Ensure cuts are clean and precise to maintain the ring shape during twisting.
  • Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
  • Rosemary is optional but adds a lovely aroma and visual appeal.
