Description

No-Bake Nougat Bars are a chewy, marshmallowy treat combined with crunchy nuts and a generous layer of chocolate, offering the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch without the need for baking.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup or honey
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups roasted unsalted nuts (such as almonds, cashews, or a mix)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional, for a decorative topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Nougat Base: Melt butter, corn syrup (or honey), and marshmallows over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  2. Mix in the Powdered Sugar: Remove from heat, add powdered sugar one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Add the Nuts: Once fully combined, fold in roasted nuts.
  4. Transfer to the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper and press the nougat mixture into the pan to create an even layer.
  5. Chill the Nougat: Place the pan in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or until the nougat has set and firmed up.
  6. Prepare the Chocolate Topping: Melt milk chocolate and white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave in short intervals.
  7. Top the Nougat Bars: Once set, pour melted milk chocolate over the nougat layer and spread evenly. If using white chocolate, drizzle it over the milk chocolate for a decorative effect.
  8. Chill Again: Place the pan back in the fridge for another 30 minutes to 1 hour until the chocolate has set.
  9. Cut and Serve: Once the chocolate is firm, lift the bars from the pan using parchment paper and cut into squares or bars.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, omit the nuts or replace with sunflower seeds or dried fruit.
  • Try dark chocolate or white chocolate for the topping to change the flavor profile.
  • Add a cup of shredded coconut for a tropical twist.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or refrigerate to prevent chocolate from melting.
  • Freezing: These bars freeze well for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature before serving.
