Description

Mint Chip Ice Cream Bon Bons are bite-sized frozen treats featuring creamy mint chip ice cream coated in rich chocolate. These easy-to-make bon bons are perfect for snacking, parties, or a refreshing dessert. With a crispy chocolate shell and a smooth, minty center, they’re an irresistible homemade indulgence.

Ingredients

  • Mint chip ice cream
  • 1 ½ cups dark or semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, or extra chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  • Prepare the Tray – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place it in the freezer.
  • Scoop the Ice Cream – Form small balls of mint chip ice cream and place them on the chilled baking sheet. Freeze for at least 1 hour until firm.
  • Melt the Chocolate – In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with coconut oil in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  • Coat the Ice Cream – Using a fork or skewer, dip each frozen ice cream ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating. Let the excess chocolate drip off.
  • Set the Bon Bons – Place the coated bon bons back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Add toppings if desired.
  • Final Freeze – Freeze again for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate shell is fully set.
  • Enjoy or Store – Serve immediately or store in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Work in batches to keep the ice cream from melting while dipping.
  • Add more coconut oil if the chocolate is too thick.
  • Let the bon bons sit for a minute before eating for the best texture.
