Easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion, these rustic tarts are a perfect balance of buttery pastry and fresh fruit. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party or enjoying a quiet moment at home, these mini galettes are sure to impress. A quick and customizable recipe that can be made with fresh or frozen berries, this dessert is perfect for a treat any time of year.

Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup fresh blueberries

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp lemon zest

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tbsp butter (cut into small pieces)

1 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a round cutter or glass to cut out small circles of pastry (about 4-5 inches in diameter).

  • In a bowl, combine the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Toss gently to combine.

  • Spoon the blueberry mixture into the center of each pastry circle, leaving a border around the edges.

  • Fold the edges of the pastry up around the blueberries to form a rustic tart shape, leaving the center exposed.

  • Beat the egg and brush it over the edges of the pastry to achieve a golden finish when baked.

  • Dot the top of the blueberries with small pieces of butter.

  • Place the galettes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy, and the blueberries are bubbling.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle with honey (optional) before serving.

Notes

  • Berry Variations: Swap blueberries for raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries for a different flavor.

  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based puff pastry and substitute the egg wash with a non-dairy milk wash.

  • Spice it Up: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm, spiced flavor.

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.

  • Reheat: Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes to restore the flakiness.
