Ingredients

For the Meatloaf:

  • Breadcrumbs
  • Egg
  • Milk

  • Ketchup
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Italian seasoning
  • Brown sugar (for glaze)

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • Butter
  • Heavy cream or milk
  • Garlic (optional)
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.
  • Shape mixture into a loaf and place on a lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
  • In a separate bowl, combine ketchup and brown sugar, then spread over the meatloaf.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • While meatloaf bakes, peel and chop potatoes. Boil in salted water until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes).
  • Drain and mash the potatoes, mixing in butter, cream, garlic (optional), salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  • Serve sliced meatloaf with mashed potatoes.
